Before the remodel, there was a wall separating the kitchen and the great room and a division between the kitchen and the breakfast room with two different ceilings. The kitchen and breakfast room were combined under a single, panned ceiling and the kitchen was opened to the great room. The owner wanted lots of light. The kitchen window was enlarged. Canned lighting and pendants were installed in the ceiling. Work surfaces are lighted by under-counter halogens. Fluorescents were installed over the cabinets to "wash" light on the ceiling. This kitchen won 2005 Regional Contractor of the Year (Coty) Residential Kitchen $60,000 - $100,000.
